Bamboo Ladder

Painted Chinese bamboo ladders (various colours) are mostly used for hanging clothes and towels in modern bathrooms but they have an ancient and honourable provenance and have been used by the Chinese for thousands of years. Even today, they are used to scale considerable heights, as various articles on the internet have shown. The most extreme case is probably the 2,500-ft bamboo ladders used by students in Zhaojue county in Sichuan province.
