2-Door Bedside Table

These lacquered Chinese-style bedside table in various colours with brass fittings were not originally used for that purpose, as traditional Chinese beds were much higher and open only on one side.

These simple side cabinets were used mainly as display stands for pottery, unusual stones or even bonsai trees, and would have been placed along a wall in a room. They have a single shelf inside to provide for convenience in storing small items and their height makes them ideal as modern bedside tables.

Their traditional brass fittings make them look like the classic wedding cabinets and these bedside tables would have been part of a traditional bride's trousseau together with the larger wedding cabinets.
