Mini Butterfly Stool

Depending on where they ended up, these low, small Chinese stools were either foot stools for rich and pampered ladies and gentlemen or seats for their servants aching backs and legs while washing or cutting vegetables by hand.

Also called bangku (pronounced bung-koo) in Malay, plain ones are usually much lower and wider and much used in the kitchens and bathrooms of local Malay, Chinese and Indian homes.

Our colourful rustic Chinese bangku are a little more ornate and have been used by our clients as pot stands, temporary seats when gardening, and display stands in addition to their normal uses.
